Father Rale's War (1722-1725)
This little known three year war was a series of battled between the British Colonials in Nova Scotia, Main and Vermont and the Wabanaki Confederacy. Battles took place all over the east-coast of North America. The root cause of the conflict was tensions over landownership in the region. The end of the war saw a significant shift in European colonial policy when it came to negotiating with the First Nations groups. For the first time, a European power recognized that its domination over North American would have to be negotiated with its 'indigenous' inhabitants in the Treaty of 1725. (Encyclopedia Britannica)
